How to Install Windows Updates

At the top of Internet
Explorer, open the menu
titled "Tools" and click on
"Windows Update." |

Step #1 |
|
If this is
your first time going to
Microsoft Windows Update, you
will be prompted to install the
software. Be sure that you allow
Internet Explorer to install any
required ActiveX controls. |

Step #2 |
|
Depending on
your version of Windows, you may
see differing prompts than the
ones depicted below. Just follow
the instructions you receive to
correctly install the Microsoft
Windows Update software. |

Step #3 |
|
Once the
Windows Update Software is
installed, you will be given an
option to perform an "Express"
or "Custom" installation. We
recommend that users select the
"Custom" scan option. |

Step #4 |
|
The Microsoft
Windows Update software will
scan your system for any
available patches or updates. |
|
|
|
Step #5 |
|
If any
updates are found, you will be
shown a list of all available
updates. Updates are separated
into three groups,
"High-priority Updates" or
"Critical Updates," operating
system updates, and hardware
updates. It is imperative that
you install the "High-priority
Updates" or "Critical Updates"
to ensure your protection
against malicious software.
Click "Install Updates" to
install any updates for your
system. |

|
Microsoft
Windows Update will launch a new
window that will display the
downloading and installation
progress. |
|
|
|
Step #7 |
|
Once the
updates have installed, you must
restart your computer for the
changes to take effect. It is
recommended that you restart
your computer immediately after
installing the updates. |
